What happens if I have to cancel?
If it is more than 60 days before activity, you only pay the deposit of 1500 SEK. Read the booking conditions here här

I am allergic or have special food needs, can I join?
– Absolutely, write in the booking or in separate mail so we take your conditions into account.

I don’t have equipment, what should I do?
– I always recommend Outdoorbuddies to rent equipment, they have a good selection. I also live next door to them and can therefore help with logistics and other mediation if needed. If you want to buy equipment, I am available for consultation and advice!

I’m not sure if I’m properly prepared, or don’t know what trip would be best.
– Under each activity there is a short description for whom the activity is adapted for, where you get a rough understanding, but it is perfectly understandable if it feels messy. If you have specific questions, you are welcome to contact us by e-mail, or:
– Book an appointment for consultation and we will look at the appropriate activity for your needs, we try to be flexible and adaptable to our common goals, everyone should feel welcome!

What happens if the weather is bad in luck or ahead of a trip?
If the weather is so bad that it risks our security, we primarily change the route to better alternatives or adjust timeframes etc. However, weather is part of staying in the mountains so this is something you need to take into account. The last resort is cancellation of the trip but it would take a lot. In that case, it will be rescheduled to another date after dialogue with you.

Can I book a private tour? (1-2 guests)

What happens if I miss the start time of the tour?
– This depends entirely on what activity it is but it is the guest’s responsibility to arrive on time and we can not wait so no refund can be made. But let us know well in advance and we will try to solve it as best we can.

Day 1

09:30 We meet at Vålådalens mountain station for introductions,
safety briefing and here we also do a joint tour planning for our days together.
The advantage of the Vålådalsfyrkanten is the symmetry of the trails, and based on our condition and how we want to build the tour, we can choose to either start south, or westward.
We ski away on the trail and from here we put the focus directly on ski technique, and just get into the glide.

Vålådalens nature reserve is expansive, and while we lunch in the appropriate place along its white forests, we can talk about the history of the place, how it was like before and what has happened in the last thousand years here. In the afternoon after 12 or 13 km we will cross the tree line and reach either Stendalen, or Lunndörren. Here is an equipped kitchen, stove, beds, and for those who want to sauna!

Day 2 / 3

Morning in a mountain cabin means a scent of firewood, fire and the breakfast we carried with us. We chop firewood and plan the day together around the table, which now means either on the trail, or away from it. The route today takes us to Vålåstugan no matter which side we come from. If we ski from Lunndörren, we have a relatively relaxed day in terms of navigation, but we learn about mountain etiquette, LNT (Leave no trace), the Right of Public Access and How to Relate to Nature Reserves, Local Culture and the Environment while we ski and how it differs in summer from winter.

If we ski from Stendalen to Vålåstugan, we have the opportunity to make an exciting side trip through seldom visited landscapes further west into the mountains Smällhögarna. Here we really get the opportunity to practice navigation, route selection and understanding avalanche terrain and what we can do to plan around it. If luck is with us we’ll have some nice turns too, and if the weather gets mischievous, this terrain only makes itself better for our purpose!

We arrive at Vålåstugan, have dinner and evaluate the day and end the evening with some nice board games and conversations.

Day 4

This morning’s check-in means that we start with an understanding of how everyone is doing, what we have in front of us and what the first few days have done for our conditions right now. After one last firewood chopping session, we ski towards Vålådalens mountain station, safer on the skis and ease of mind.

Our last day is devoted primarily to reflection and rehearsing the knowledge we have gained with us during the days. If we have the weather with us, we might dig one last sun pit and treat ourselves to the rest of the snacks we carried with us so it won’t be left over. We take turns tracking where it is needed and to lead the group at the right pace. When we get down into the forest and the marshes for the last time we pause in the appropriate place to talk about how you can create your next adventure with even better conditions.

Once back to civilization, we make one last round of
feedback and then onto our goodbyes until next time!

This is a relatively easy trip over mostly trail, and the distances for each day are not very long, about 11-14 km. Having Skied before is an advantage, but if you are new to crosscountry skis, it is also okay.

Food prep:

You are advised to be familiar with your kitchen, especially if it is a winter kitchen ex. multifuel or gasoline. Lunch that doesn’t need to be cooked is also a good idea. You will always have time for dinner. Shops are available in the STF cottages we visit, with the possibility of refilling.

If you want a specially adapted training program, it is offered before the trip.

If you need to rent equipment, I recommend Outdoorbuddies and this can be done in consultation with me if you wish. I live next door to them so for such equipment you do not need before the trip starts you do not have to think about shipping.

Boots / Boots should be properly seasoned, and a fresh coat of wax doesn’t hurt.

After booking, you will receive an invitation to a digital meeting for the trip that will be held at the end of January.

Getting to start: (Vålådalen)
Train & Night train from Stockholm goes to Undersåker, from there bus directly to Vålådalen.
